Blue Bonnet Fields Forever

The thing is, in Texas springtime is Blue Bonnet picture time. The girls and I had a lovely day going rural. We picnicked with two of Irene's friends and their mothers, and then we all went to Brenham (the home of Blue Bell) and visited the Antique Rose Emporium. I have so many more pictures, and it was really hard to tell which ones were the best in the small format they were in on my computer, but this is a decent representation. Here are a few, just so we can all take a moment and thank Lady Bird.

I tried so very hard to get Mary to lie down in a patch of flowers for a picture. Walking back to the car she got down and said, "Mommy, eye" (and of course eye means camera). She really does want to be accommodating....
Poor Little Mary... but those water bottles aren't going to carry themselves!
The girls loved that they could talk to eachother through the bathroom door.
According to Irene, this was the highlight of the day.

He Is Risen, Indeed

We were truly blessed this Easter. Mamie and Pappa made the trek in from Mississippi, Grandma spent the afternoon with us (poor GG was left all alone), and Uncle Robert came back. Uncle John was sorely missed, but Uncle Robert buckled down and did enough playing, egg hiding, and chatting for two Uncles - no small task with two such demanding nieces. I didn't take any pictures after the mad morning rush to get ready for Church, but here are the few I got.
This was Saturday afternoon waiting for Uncle Robert. Poor Mary ended up in a bathing suit so small for her she couldn't really stand up straight.

Saturday evening we had time to hear about Uncle Robert's adventures on the open road.

We should do this every morning, Mommy.

Take a picture of me making an egg with my hands, Mommy.

After Pappa left, Rameses came out of hiding.

Monday morning with Uncle Robert. (I get a lot of pictures in this room as I keep the camera near the kitchen.)

Road Trip to H-Town

We had two major happenings between St. Patrick's Day and Easter. First, the girls and I went to Mississippi for Holt's birthday. The camera stayed home with Rob, so I have no pictures of the wonderful, snowy weekend we spent there. The next weekend we went to the Natural Science Museum with Grandma. The magic show was a blast, but the highlight had to be the butterfly exhibit. The camera made it, so here is some pictorial evidence...

What can I say? My Texan girls love to ride.

Grandma had two butterflies land on her. Irene was impressed (and jealous).

Rob and Irene couldn't see a cave and NOT go in it.

My theory is that my kids like McDonald's so much because they only have it when they're famished and I'm desperate.

After the morning at the museum, we took a walk around Hermann Park to enjoy the exceptional weather. Mary crashed out, so Irene and I braved the paddle boats alone. We paddled under the large fountain in the middle of the lake as I thought it would be funny to get Irene all wet. The plan back fired on me. Irene got a refreshing blast of water, but I got totally soaked - and I was wearing jeans, yuk.
We finished the day off with dinner at Star Pizza (to balance out the nutrition deficit of McD's, of course). Houston's really kind of nice in small doses.

Uncle Robert Days

To begin our blogging career, I figured I would start with some pictures from Uncle Robert Days (I think he calls them Texas Days).

Irene's tradition is to wait for him in the front yard and draw with chalk.

Where's Mary?

There she is!

It was a fun time wandering around Nelson Nursery with Uncle Robert. Hiding Mary in the pottery was his idea.

Uncle Robert left on St. Patrick's Day. Irene thwarted his early morning pinching plans by wearing her shamrock pajamas.

They were heartbroken to see Uncle leave, but with an Easter return promised they recovered. Plus, Irene loves anything - holiday, event, club - with a dress code. It was a great distraction from the post-Uncle ennui.
